After Kaja collected all the information we could give him, we decided the best thing to do was go to Vegas. There’s no way Marko Juric would come alone into the backcountry of Washington, not when he thought there might be those who wanted him dead. If someone is trying to start a war, then there’s someone out there trying to kill him. I'm sure that fact doesn't phase him, though. He is the boss of the largest crime family in Croatia. There is always someone trying to kill him.

There is a dinner he is due to attend on the Vegas strip. He’ll be there along with Sven and Josip. If Kaja can get him alone and explain the situation to him, it could work. I will have to show myself and Bryn, but if it’s one of the four of them in the room, I’ll be screwed either way.

The dinner is not for another week, so Bryn and I need to make our way to the second hideout location. I don't want to stay in one place for too long, not when there is still a price on our heads. The cold rocks us to the core. I’ve been to many places, but I‘m not prepared to be in the cold for this long. I rub my hands together and shove them back in the pockets of my jacket.

"Why the hell is it so freaking cold? I moved to the west to stay out of the cold. I had enough of this shit back home." Bryn complains as we continue to walk through the unforgiving forest.

"We are much further north, closer to Canada. Did you think it would be the same fucking temperature as San Francisco?" I roll my eyes and keep on walking.

"Hey, no one told you to choose this fucking location, so don't get pissy with me." She storms up to me and pushes me in the back.

"You don't want to fight me, little girl, just keep on walking. We have a much longer way to go." I try to turn, but she doesn't let up.

"Who told you I didn't want to fight you? I'm tired of you being an ass to me today. This is all your fucking fault. If you’d have just left me the hell alone, then this would have never happened!" She screams. Her frustration almost the same level as mine.

"Fuck that. It's my fucking job. My job is to kill the fucking people they tell me to kill. If you weren't so much of a god damn pussy you’d have never run away from your father, and they wouldn't have been able to get to you so damn easy. Now we are stuck walking through the blistering fucking cold, and all you can do is complain at every fucking step. You think I want to fucking be here? You think I want to have to hide from the people I call family for this shit?"

"Pussy?" Her mouth drops open at my insult, "Who the fuck do you think you are? You know shit about my life and what I went through over there.
